HV CABLES

High-voltage cables for electric and hybrid vehicles

HV cables are required in electric vehicles to safely transport high electrical voltages, as they ensure the supply of power to the drive train, battery, and other high-voltage consumers. They conduct electricity from the battery to the electric motor and vice versa, as well as to systems such as heating, air conditioning, or fast charging technology. By transmitting high voltages, the current can be kept lower for the same power output, which allows for a reduction in cable cross-sections and thus weight and space.

MCS Megawatt Charging System: The Solution for Electric Heavy-Duty Vehicles

The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) represents a significant advancement in electromobility, particularly for the heavy-duty transport sector.  MCS is a standardized charging system designed to deliver charging power of up to 3.75 megawatts. This is achieved through specialized connectors and cables capable of handling high currents of up to 3000 amperes at voltages of up to 1250 volts. These technical specifications allow even large batteries in heavy commercial vehicles to be charged in 30 minutes or less.

LAPP is actively working on developing its own MCS solution. This solution aims to be not only powerful but also safe and easy to use. We are leveraging innovative technologies to create a reliable and future-proof charging infrastructure. Our goal is to advance electromobility in the heavy-duty sector, such as in construction and mining, and make a significant contribution to environmentally friendly transportation. Follow our progress and see how we are shaping the mobility of the future.
